Best Semester Abroad Students arrive in Cairns
Five Best Semester Abroad students arrived in Cairns on Sunday 9 October to begin their five months of study in Cairns. 20 winners of the Best Semester Abroad competition were chosen from a hotly contested field from 10 countries. Winners were those who had the best reasons for why Queensland is the next step in their life journey and could demonstrate that they will benefit the most from a semester in Queensland.
Students are spending their Queensland semester abroad in Cairns, Brisbane or the Gold Coast, studying at some of Queensland’s most highly regarded institutions.
Five students from Chile, Italy, Philippines, Japan and Thailand arrived to a VIP reception at Cairns Airport. Fresh from an induction week in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the students were whisked away by Cairns Limousines in a stretch limo for a welcome reception onboard the sailing vessel Spirit of Cairns. After cruising the calm waters of Trinity Inlet while enjoying a sumptuous seafood lunch, the excited winners then boarded a helicopter for a scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef with GBR Helicopters. What a splendid welcome to Cairns, ticking off a couple of Big Bucket List items on day one!
The students have now settled in to their Cairns Sharehouse accommodation in preparation for the real work to begin. Please join Study Cairns in welcoming these students to our tropical city.
