Cairns College of English and Business wins QLD Export Award
Cairns College of English and Business has won a prestigious Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards 2017 in the education category.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has congratulated the education provider on winning the award and acknowledged the vital contribution it makes to the state economy at a prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday night (19 October 2017).
Announcing the winners at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Ms Palaszczuk said the awards were evidence of how dynamic and innovative the Queensland economy has become.
“Cairns College of English and Business has topped the education category for the second year in a row and the contribution it is making to attract international students to Far North Queensland deserves to be recognised,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
Taking home this prestigious award for the second consecutive year, Study Cairns President Carol Doyle congratulated Cairns College of English and Business for their ongoing commitment to excellence.
“Congratulations on winning this award for the second year in a row, the Cairns International Education and Training industry in Cairns is proud of Cairns College of English and Business for leading the way in Queensland!” Ms Doyle said.
A Gold Coast electric skateboard manufacturer, Evolve Skateboards, was given the top prize of the night – Exporter of the Year – for its unique products that have developed a global cult following. Over 70 Queensland businesses entered this year’s awards program in 12 national categories and four state categories.
Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment, Curtis Pitt, said the diversity of award winners announced tonight underlined the diversity of the Queensland economy and the variety of opportunities to grow exports even further than the records being set at the moment.
“As a government we are focused on supporting investment and innovation to boost exports and create jobs now and for the future,” Mr Pitt said.
“The $35 million five-year Trade and Investment Strategy we released earlier this year sets a blueprint for expanding our export efforts. Our strategy will mean more investment, stronger economic growth, and more jobs, especially in our regional communities.”
