Rainforestation – A backstory spanning two generations

A backstory spanning two generations. The success of the CaPTA Group’s award-winning Kuranda tourism attraction, Rainforestation Nature Park, is due to an incredible relationship between two families that spans over two generations. The Woodward family, founders and owners of the CaPTA Group and the Enoch family who are from the Quandamooka (North Stradbroke Island) and Kaanjtju (Lockhart River) tribes, have been working together for over a quarter of a century.

Since they began working together in 1993 to pioneer the Rainforestation Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, the two families have consistently collaborated to enhance the understanding and celebration of Indigenous Culture to guests from all around the globe and to the local tourism sector. Fast forward a quarter of a century and Pamagirri have welcomed around 2,900,000 visitors.

Since CaPTA’s commencement in 1976, founders Charles and Pip Woodward recognised the importance of supporting, preserving and sharing Australia’s Indigenous culture to foster reconciliation and this continues to be at the core of CaPTA’s brand ethos.

NEWS: Rainforestation recently welcomed two rescued wild-born koalas. The two female koalas, Kandy and Willow, have recently arrived at Rainforestation from Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Hospital. Both of the adorable marsupials were originally rescued from the wild and are unable to return due to sustained lifetime injuries. READ MORE

Migration Plus says studying in Cairns actively encouraged by Australian Government

Studying in Cairns offers more opportunities. Recent migration trends show that the Government will actively encourage migrants to permanently settle in Regional areas in the future, and the decision where migrant completed studies may become even more important. Migration pathways to work and live in regional areas of Australia are undergoing drastic changes in choices of temporary visas that will come into effect later this year, including Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) 491 visa and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) 494 visa. The number of Skilled independent visas will become very limited. The FNQ DAMA agreement may also provide further opportunities to find sponsoring opportunities in Skilled occupations that are in high demand in the Cairns and FNQ areas. Visit our website for more information.

Making the right choices, where to study and which migration pathway to choose is an important decision. With reliable migration advice, your goals can be achieved. Consult the specialist team at Migration Plus for migration advice you can trust.

Instrumentation Training expands at EIM International

EIM International is currently the only RTO actively delivering UEE31211 Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control to International students in Cairns. This is a skill shortage and has already seen great traction at both their Gold Coast and Cairns campuses with two classes per campus running weekly.

The program running for 103 weeks and not only sees the students develop theory, simulated practicals and technique, they are also exposed to vocational placement.  EIM International has worked hard to secure industry relationships seeing several students already building long term relationships in several industries such as aviation, wastewater, brewery and manufacturing. This qualification is unique and is a trade that is quickly overtaking traditional trades with the world becoming automated.

Immigration Gurus approved in Far North QLD Designated Area Migration Agreement

Immigration Gurus is pleased to announce the approval of the Far North Queensland Designated Area Migration Agreement (FNQ DAMA) after months of advocating, research, information sessions and the preparation and presentation of an extensive business case. In consultation and collaboration with the Cairns Chamber of commerce there has been a successful lobby to the Federal government to acknowledge the specific needs of our region to find a solution which will assist in filling specific skills shortages facing the Cairns region. A DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement) is a type of labour agreement which allows employers to sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers in positions which they are unable to fill with locally available workers. The FNQ DAMA is very specific and covers the Far North Queensland region including the Cassowary Coast, the Tablelands, Mareeba, Cairns & the Douglas Shire.

Immigration Gurus specialise in creating pathway plans for students to get the most out of their time in Australia, whether it be for a short term stay or long term residency. If you’d like to work with a locally-owned and operated migration agent who knows the region and who can support your students on the ground here in Cairns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
