Whether you are part of a volunteer program or not, each student will be given the opportunity to put their name into the draw to WIN the rights to name a rescued green sea turtle!
Green Sea Turtles are one of the largest sea turtles and the only herbivore amongst the different species. Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick and injured turtles.
Friend of the Rainforest
Become a Friend of the Rainforest and forge strong connections with the Cairns region and its natural beauty.

Each student will have the option to become an ambassador of the rainforest, allowing them to maintain a connection to our region. Rainforest Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation which has been protecting and restoring rainforests since 1999. Rainforest Rescue projects re-establish rainforests through planting, maintenance and restoration programs, as well as purchasing and protecting high conservation value rainforest and preserving its biodiversity.

- Due to Covid-19, many tours are not operating daily. In lieu of giving YOU the opportunity to come on your preferred dates, we have not allocated which days of the week each tour runs. Once you book advising us of your preferred dates, you will be provided with a true and accurate itinerary with confirmed tour operational dates. i.e. they might not be in the same order as the itinerary you originally booked. Should a product become unavailable we will endeavour to provide you with a similar product or provide a full refund for that product.

Brisbane to Cairns by Coach

- Volunteering can be physical by nature can be quite strenuous due to the tropical climate. Some of the tasks that are required of volunteers as part of the daily routine and can be repetitive. All volunteers will be required to wear protective covered in footwear such as boots.
- Booking dates are flexible based on your availability.
- Prices are based on 2 Pax for the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Program and the Habitat Helpers Program and 4 Pax for the Play and Volunteer Program. Please ensure you are travelling with a friend or friends. The Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre is dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick and injured turtles and running education programs to raise awareness of issues faced by marine turtles through positive publicity and teaching.
This volunteer program provides you with the opportunity to assist the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre team with their conservation efforts. The Turtle Rehabilitation Volunteer Program will encompass a range of duties utilising several areas of the Fitzroy Island with experienced staff as program guides. Most volunteers will also spend time volunteering on the Reef Restoration Program and have free time exploring the Great Barrier Reef. The focus of the program projects will be marine rehabilitation, nature, sustainability, and conservation.

Habitat Helpers Volunteer Program

The Habitat Helpers Volunteer Program is established at an interactive wildlife park, featuring guided encounters with Australian native wildlife such as koalas, kangaroos, birds, reptiles and much more.
This volunteer program provides you with the opportunity to assist the Habitat Helpers team with their conservation efforts. You will assist with the management of the wildlife park environments, animal enclosures, enrichments, and of course the animals themselves. This program is a sneak peek into the daily life of a Zookeeper in a native wildlife immersion park. The park habitats mimic the native wildlife’s natural environments and animals roam freely around you. These specialised environments need dedication to ensure they meet the highest animal welfare standards. Habitat Helpers will assist in spread our conservation message via daily park maintenance and educational tours.

Play and Volunteer

Discover Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef and make a difference during your semester break. The Play and Volunteer program provides you with the opportunity to encounter some of the most amazing locations and experiences Australia has to offer including the Great Barrier Reef, Atherton Tablelands, Indigenous Culture, and Tropical Rainforest.
You will also have the opportunity to feel fulfilled by giving back and contributing to Australia’s environment and it’s native wildlife through volunteering at the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, planting a tree to contribute to reforestation and collecting data on the Great Barrier Reef, contributing to the Eye on the Reef Survey.

Rainforest & Wildlife Warriors Volunteer Program

The Rainforest & Wildlife Warriors Volunteer Program is established at two different family owned interactive wildlife parks, which offers rainforest, wildlife, and cultural experiences to the public.
This is your opportunity to assist the Rainforest & Wildlife Warriors team with our conservation efforts. The focus of the program projects will be rainforest, nature and wildlife. Help with the management of the rainforest environments, animal enclosures, enrichments and of course the animals themselves. The Rainforest & Wildlife Warriors Program will encompass a range of duties utilising several areas of Rainforestation Nature Park and Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome both owned by the CaPTA Group, with experienced staff as program guides.

Farming Jobs
Enjoy the sunshine while earning dollars during your semester break. Local farmers are looking for enthusiastic, physically fit students who would like to earn a generous hourly wage for 3 – 8 weeks. Jobs are available now!
Jobs include picking fruits or vegetables, working in processing factories or tending to crops.
Be reimbursed up to $2000 for working 6 weeks or more! Students must have student visa work rights and be of good health and fitness to participate.
Our $385 package includes assistance with coordinating your job, an airport pickup, the first 2 nights of accommodation in Cairns so you can get settled as well as breakfast and dinner. We will then take you to your accommodation in the tablelands for you to commence your job.
On your days off or when you have saved money at the end of your job, enjoy Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, the Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest, and the abundance of fun adventurous activities on offer!!

Jobs include café workers, waiter/waitress, bar attendant, food and beverage attendant, front office, room attendant and more.
Our $385 package includes assistance with coordinating your job, an airport pickup, the first 2 nights of accommodation in Cairns so you can get settled as well as breakfast and dinner. We will then take you to your accommodation to commence your job.
