St Augustine’s College
EDUCATION DESIGNED FOR BOYS
St Augustine’s expertise in the education of boys is founded on our 90-year association with our students, constant innovation in curriculum and wellbeing measures and an educational methodology based on the teachings of St Marcellin Champagnat.
The Saints way of educating takes into account the intellectual, physical, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions of our boys. Each student is involved in a relevant and engaging academic program. This program aims to challenge his intellect and help him to gain the knowledge and develop the skills essential for academic success as well as life beyond school.
St Augustine’s College, a Catholic boys school in the Marist tradition for Years 7 to 12, was established by the Marist Brothers in 1930 and holds the honour of being the oldest Marist school in Queensland. The College offers a full-time and weekly boarding program for boys as well as for girls who are students of St Monica’s College.
Known locally as Saints, the College is renowned for outstanding academic, cultural and sporting achievements, with links to local, rural and international communities.
A PASSION FOR LEARNING
At St Augustine’s College, we recognise and understand that all boys are different, and their abilities and interests vary. With close to 800 students from Years 7 to 12, the College is proud of its record of academic success. We continually reflect upon our practices in order to maintain and improve how we structure our curriculum and timetable to accommodate the learning styles and preferences of boys.
Education today is about empowering people to become lifelong learners capable of thinking and working in complex ways. It’s less about the accumulation of knowledge and more about critical thinking, creativity and problem solving. As a Catholic college in the Diocese of Cairns, we view quality education as being focused on the full development of our students.
