TIQ holds workshop with Gus Balbontin for Study Cairns members

Trade and Investment Qld recently held a workshop for Study Cairns members and invited Gus Balbontin, who is TIQ’s official ‘Innovator in Residence‘, as the keynote speaker.

Gus’s passionate presentation was fabulously entertaining and thought-provoking.

Who is Gus Balbontin?

As former CTO of Lonely Planet, Gus led a large global restructure that put Lonely Planet financially back on track and positioned the company to tackle further disruption and digital transformation.

He is involved in the start-up scene as a founder, investor and advisor. He currently runs a small boutique Design and Innovation agency called Roshambo. Gus’s presentation style makes his listeners laugh hard and equally think deeply about the puzzles of running a business in our ever changing world. His common sense disarms you and his practical approach is aimed at getting you moving on a Monday first thing!

About the Industry Innovator in Residence Program

The Industry Innovator in Residence Program is an initiative of The International Education and Training Strategy to Advance Queensland 2016-2026 (Strategy) . The program aims to facilitate collaboration with thought-leaders, innovators, and key industry advisors, to acquire innovative ideas and address policy problems to support Queensland’s International Education and Training sector. Industry Innovators may be local Queenslanders, from across Australia or global experts.

Successful Innovators in Residence will spend 1-6 months working with International Education and Training Unit (IETU) and the sector on a defined project. The International Education and Training Unit within Trade & Investment Queensland’s (TIQ) will act as the central point of coordination for the IET Industry Innovator in Residence program.
